Giant Killer Jerilyn Out Did Annika by Qualifying in Men’s Tourney
A two-time member of Deaf Team USA, Jerilyn Keller from San Antonio, TX, became the first deaf woman bowler to qualify for the top 16 men match play round by placing 15th place with a 2356 total for an average of 196. Keller who entered with a 188 average showed that she can do it with a run of 223-200-227 in her first round’s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th games.
In her second round’s 8th game, she hit a 221 and with aid of her first ever converted spare of the “Greek Church” split 10th game for a 209. After that, Keller had her worst game 145 but regrouped to finish with a 228 for her total 2356 total.
Then Keller earned the title of “Giant Killer” when in the first round beat three of five match play against the much heralded deaf pro, Peter Kaczmarczyk, she beat him three games to one, Kaczmarczyk won the first game 204 to Keller’s 181 but Keller came back winning the next three games with 235-207-235.
